Just for fun, plan to animate it some day. Two guys have been friends for decades. They spend more time together in the pub than anywhere else. I tried to evoke a typical British feeling allround. Crits welcome, especially - as I'm not a brit myself - on how to increase the 'local color' factor.
Modeled in Maya, rendered in Mental Ray, some Mudbox sculpting for displacement maps. Mia shader used for glass, beer, table, wall. Misss_fast used for skin. The hair is Fur. There's an hdri, a couple area lights and a couple spotlights.

A production painting for a project I'm helping out on. I made a basic mountain in Maya, then sculpted it a bit in Mudbox, then back to Maya to place some simple primitives for houses, and a quick lighting pass. Then into Photoshop, for hours and hours of fun.

It's supposed to be a city grown up on an open space where water crosses an important trading route. It became the capital, so there's the royal castle straddling the source of the city's wealth - the water. I plan to add some large wind-mills for generating power, as it must be quite windy up there. (Although they also have plenty of hydro power of course.)
They wanted a card for Christmas/New Year, and also a character (Sylene) they could potentially use again in the future. (See more of the card here: http://www.syflex.biz/ )
The hair is Photoshop painted in this version.
It was a pretty rush job, specially at the end, but I'm happy with it. I had to learn Syflex from scratch just for this job, and even so I think the cloth-simulations came out great. I loved working with it.
